چکیده

This paper proposes a novel tabletop display system for natural communication and flexible information sharing. The proposed system is specifically designed to integrate two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) user interfaces by using a multi-user stereoscopic display, IllusionHole. The proposed system takes awareness into consideration and provides both 2D and 3D information and user interfaces. On 1 the display, a number of standard Windows desktop environments are provided as personal workspaces, as well as a shared workspace with a dedicated graphical user interface. In the personal workspaces, users can simultaneously access existing applications and data, and exchange information between personal and shared workspaces. In this way, the proposed system can seamlessly integrate personal, shared, 2D and 3D workspaces with conventional user interfaces and effectively support communication and information sharing. To demonstrate the capabilities of the proposed display system, a modeling application was implemented. A preliminary experiment confirmed the effectiveness of this system.

Tabletop 3D Object Manipulation with Touch and Tangibles

Tabletop environments are ideal for collaborative activities that involve moving and arranging objects. However, manipulating 3D virtual objects through the 2D interface is challenging because users’ 2D actions must be translated into 3D actions. We explore the use of touch and tangibles to aid collaboration and 3D object manipulation. Our user study shows that using touch and tangible interact...

gCubik+i Virtual 3D Aquarium: Interfacing a Graspable 3d Display with a Tabletop Display

We propose gCubik+i as a new interactive platform that naturally interfaces a 3D display with a tabletop display. The proposed platform is suitable for group collaboration and it introduces two novel interaction paradigms to existing tabletop display applications: 1) natural switching between the shared working spaces of the table and the users’ hands; and 2) transforming static 2D images into ...

Document Sharing on Multi-User Interactive Tables

Group work frequently involves transitions between periods of active collaboration and periods of individual activity. We aim to support this typical work practice by introducing four tabletop direct-manipulation interaction techniques that can be used to transition the status of an electronic document from private to group-accessible. After presenting our four techniques release, relocate, reo...

Developing a BIM-based Spatial Ontology for Semantic Querying of 3D Property Information

With the growing dominance of complex and multi-level urban structures, current cadastral systems, which are often developed based on 2D representations, are not capable of providing unambiguous spatial information about urban properties. Therefore, the concept of 3D cadastre is proposed to support 3D digital representation of land and properties and facilitate the communication of legal owners...
